On Saturday, 12 December, HSBC Life Insurance Company Limited (INSH) organised an outing for twenty disadvantaged children to the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum (SSTM).  Twenty INSH volunteers participated in the outing, which aimed to educate as well as brighten the lives of less fortunate children.  CEO Terry Lo together with all function heads took part in this CSR event through funding admission tickets.

Having joined an educational programme, these children all come from families of ‘farmers-turned-workers’ and are currently living in a run-down neighborhood in Shanghai.  Both the beneficiaries and volunteers enjoyed the outing and the film “Africa The Serengeti” in between. Not just did everyone find the experience in SSTM stimulating and educational, the activity also helped boost the confidence and communication skills of these children.

INSH is pleased to see over 12% of the staff were willing to contribute their time and knowledge to these children.  What’s more, all volunteers truly found that “it is better to give than to receive”.
